2006-07-09 `Survey and Flaggers' Newsletter Hello, No Speaking: ------------ Did not get a chance to speak to a crowd yesterday, partly because I needed to leave early to get to a forum for Secretary of State in Atlantic Station. Met more people and talked to a few people on the street. Straw Votes: ------------ From two straw votes, passed on by Democrat SOS Candidate, Angela Moore, from back around July 4th, showed widely varied results, which roughly combined as follows: 02 Bolton 41 Cox 02 McCarley 39 Taylor 16 Undecided Not so good for McCarley and me. McCarley's small strength comes from many travels around the state to visit and plant signs. My strength comes from many visitors to my website, but then they seem to back off, probably due to my stances on tax, GOD, and marriage. Straw voters may also feel inhibited because they are not in the privacy of a voting booth. (We think they are private.) The point here is that if my supporters can capture the 16% undecided and force the race into a foreseen runoff, then voters would be willing to vote for me knowing they would have a second chance to vote for Cox or Taylor. Flaggers: --------- This Sunday, July 9, 2006, Bill Shipp wrote `The invisible Republican candidate', http://www.mdjonline.com/276/10224335.txt, where he describes Ray McBerry's being ostracized by his own party, and alludes to McCarley and me as also being ostracized. By the way, Shipp is fair as he can be. He even mentioned me in 2002 for my write-in Governor's race. My point with McBerry, is that he will have no impact on Perdue. Furthermore, McBerry "is an ardent flagger", whose supports are not particularly Republican. Consequently, they could switch over to the Democratic Primary and vote for my "Back to Capitalism" stance, or they may like the country boy, prison hardliner, Taylor. Shipp in another article had mentioned that the Governor's race has several times been won by the rural Southern vote which could be influenced by the flaggers -- Jimmy Carter in particular. Just some thoughts. Thanks, Bill (To add or delete from the list go to www.BillBoltonGovernor.org and click the add or remove button near the counter. )
